HOT2000, and its successor HOT3000, are playing an integral role in the development of new standards and guidelines for the design of houses that generate as much energy as they use over a year – so-called net-zero energy houses.
HOT2000 must be used to evaluate design submissions for net-zero energy houses in the CMHC EQUILIBRIUM program.
The Canadian Solar Building Research Network – a network of universities funded by NSERC – is working closely with Natural Resources Canada to make HOT2000/HOT3000 Canada’s solar energy home design tool of choice for builders and researchers alike.
