Electrical code and standards
Updating the electrical code, updating Canadian and international standards
The PV group is actively working to update the electrical code, as well as Canadian and international standards on various photovoltaic components. These efforts have led to the adoption, in Canada, of IEC Standard 61215, which defines electrical and thermal performance specifications for PV modules. As well, Section 50 of the Canadian Electrical Code, which provides specifications on photovoltaic installations, was updated thanks to the work of the CANMET Energy Technology Centre team. In addition, the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standard 107.1 was expanded to allow the certification of power conditioners used in PV systems.
