Second Canadian Interconnection Standard
CanmetENERGY expanded it efforts to support and participate in a targeted Canadian efforts to adopt harmonized technical standards and codes as well as support national certification programs that cover the approval of installation and products. As a result of its coordination and efforts, a second national interconnection standard C22.3 No. 9 now addresses technical criteria for interconnection of distributed resources to electricity supply systems up to 50 kV. It is the first edition of C22.3 No. 9, Interconnection of distributed resources with electricity supply systems, one of a series of Standards issued under the Canadian Electrical Code, Part III. This Standard was prepared by the Technical Subcommittee on Interconnection of Distributed Resources with Electricity Supply Systems under the jurisdiction of the Technical Committee on System Aspects of Electricity Supply and the CSA Strategic Steering Committee on Power Engineering and Electromagnetic Compatibility.
This second national interconnection standard is complementary to the first national standard - CSA C22.2 No. 257 entitled interconnecting inverter-based micro-distributed resources to distribution systems adopted in 2006. CSA C22.2 No. 257 only addressed interconnections of inverter-based Distributed Resources for connection up to 600 V.
