HOUSTRAD (Version 1.0)

Download HOUSTRAD

HOUSTRAD software provides an easy-to-use method to demonstrate compliance to the envelope requirements of the Model National Energy Code of Canada for Houses (MNECH) using trade-offs.

HOUSTRAD demonstrates house envelope Energy Code compliance through the Trade-off Path (equivalent to the Prescriptive Path), where the windows or walls of the house do not follow the prescriptive requirements, but the overall annual energy use is equal to or better than the reference house. The house verification program requests basic information on the house; performs envelope trade-offs and provides user-friendly output. User-friendly help files are included.

Potential Applications:
  • Perform the Trade-offs analysis
  • Look up thermal resistance values of building components
  • Submit house files for compliance to the Model National Energy Code of Canada (MNECH)
Features:
  • Automatically gives the user the prescriptive requirements for building components in their geographic region
  • Alternative component assemblies can be easily chosen from lists of components in the program
  • Users can click on different assembly types and the program automatically performs the calculations and gives the building a pass or failure
To install the software:
  • Once you have downloaded the << houstrad.zip >> file to your hard drive, extract the archived files to a temporary directory, i.e. c:\temp
  • Run the Setup program, i.e. c:\temp\setup.exe
