Instructions for viewing the house model and running a HOT3000 analysis
Once a basic house has been constructed, you can view the generated geometry using the HOT3000 Viewer (H3Kviewer) tool bar button. The button looks like a 3-D box located at the end of the tool bar.
The H3K viewer displays a model of the house that can be viewed from any angle by clicking and dragging your mouse anywhere in the viewer. Right-click in the viewer to change some of the attributes of the diagram.
When you are finished with the H3KViewer window and you want to run the house simulator, close the viewer window and select “Full House Report” from the “Reports” menu. This will use the Hot3000 input data to create a set of ESP-r data files and run the simulator. You should see a DOS command box appear and the output from the ESP-r engine scroll by. Once the run is complete, an HTML report will appear displaying the simulations results.
NOTE FOR ESP-r USERS: The ESP-r data files are not deleted after a run. The ESP-r engine (bps.exe) can be run from a command line at any time after an initial run has been completed. There is a DOS batch file (runEspr.bat) written to each project’s configuration folder (i.e., named “cfg”), which will run the current project’s ESP-r data using bps. The results are written by bps.exe to the cfg folder and given the names annual_results.html, monthly_results.html and monthly_results_table.csv.
