Demonstration Projects
Arena - Val-des-Monts, QC, Canada
This demonstration project has been realized in 2001. The decision-makers of this small municipality wanted to give local residents an arena with the lowest operating costs possible.
In this context, the arena was designed to ensure a reduction of about 50% of the energy bill (compared to a conventional arena).
A CoolSolution® approach
CanmetENERGY and IceKube specialists worked closely together to integrate advanced heating, refrigeration, and ice resurfacing technologies. Many innovative technologies have been implemented:
- Ground-source heat pumps
- Snow pit
- Low emissivity ceiling
- Compact and hermetic monobloc refrigeration systems
- Efficient lighting
- Radiant floor heating
