Building Managers

The continuous increase in energy prices and the increasing impact of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions on the climate are issues of constant concern for building managers. New technologies are available but represent many unknowns for managers who often lack objective information.

Integrated approach to reduce energy consumption and GHG emissions

CanmetENERGY recommends an integrated approach to energy analysis of buildings with refrigeration systems. The CoolSolution® approach combines advanced practices and technologies in the design and operation of refrigeration systems to provide efficient building operation while preserving the quality of the environment.

This approach has been used in demonstration projects, achieved in partnership with CanmetENERGY. These success stories showed that it is possible to reduce energy consumption by almost 50% in arenas and curling rinks and by 25% in supermarkets, as well as reduce synthetic refrigerant leaks by 75%.

Integration of the CoolSolution® approach in service proposals

To save energy and reduce GHG emissions, commercial and institutional building managers must ask their suppliers for a proposal that integrates innovative technologies.

They can then compare the advantages of a leading edge approach focused on long-term savings and sustainable development with a traditional one.

Awareness workshop

CanmetENERGY has developed an awareness workshop specifically designed for managers of arenas and curling rinks. This workshop, presented by the Bureau de l'efficacité et de l'innovation énergétiques, provides information on the CoolSolution® approach and on the energy-saving technologies that are available.
