Dick Polowaniuk, Director, Facility Maintenance, City of Fort Saskatchewan:
In a traditional system, the pressure is set and is operated within that preset range. In our system, it is fully based on demand and other atmospheric conditions, inside and outside. The advantage of a modulating system is: the lower the pressure is, less electricity is required to generate that pressure and, of course, the higher the pressure is, the higher are the electricity costs.
