Biofuels | Renewable Diesel Fuels

CanmetENERGY is involved in the research and development of new and improved technologies for the production of diesel fuels and high-cetane diesel blending stocks from renewable sources (waste greases and animal fats). We investigate the production of inexpensive renewable diesel fuels that perform well at low temperatures. The focus is on lower-quality feedstocks (such as waste restaurant greases), which are more difficult to process but less expensive.
Amid the unique biofuels technologies we developed are promising innovations like the SUPERCETANETM technology with potential commercial applications, the AVRO DieselTM process with commercialization possibilities, and the Bio-Oil Diesel (the BDM ProcessTM) that produces a stable bio-oil/diesel fuel mixture.
